" I’ve noticed something about people who make a difference in the world: They hold the unshakable conviction that individuals are extremely important, that every life matters. They get excited over one smile. They are willing to feed one stomach, educate one mind, and treat one wound. They aren’t determined to revolutionize the world all at once; they’re satisfied with small changes. Over time, though, the small changes add up. Sometimes they even transform cities and nations, and yes, the world. "

My Last Days: Zach Sobiech
“We have to choose joy and keep choosing it.” - Henri J.M. Nouwen
What a beautiful soul. We all have something to learn from this kid. Rest in peace, Zach.
Zach’s song, ‘Clouds’ is available on iTunes and other online music stores and that proceeds benefit the Zach Sobiech Research Fund of Children’s Cancer Research Fund

if not inside of ourselves?
How else can we thrive?"

This song wakes me up. Enjoy.
This is beautiful.
It also reminded me that one time in Texas, I stood on a street corner just a couple feet away from her and I didn’t say anything…just watched her cross the street..

The shelter managers letter: I am posting this (and it is long) because I think our society needs a huge wake-up call. As a shelter manager, I am going to share a little insight with you all - a…
Sorry to be a downer for a moment. Please understand that I never post things like this, but I feel that this is an issue that needs to be recognized by everyone. Besides for the fact that this is completely heartbreaking, it’s important to also note that the majority of dogs sold in pet stores come from puppy mills. (If you don’t know exactly what that is, please do some research on puppy mills or simply do a Google image search. And please understand that by purchasing an animal from a pet store, you are only furthering the problem and supporting an industry that treats animals in completely inhumane ways.) I don’t want to rant, so I’ll stop here. I just want to open your mind to the idea of adoption and the understanding that there are so many animals out there that need loving homes. And unless we (as a society) make the decision to adopt rather than to buy from pet stores, puppy mills will continue to exist and sweet, loving, kind animals will continue to die.

And that’s definitely not a bad thing.
